Lowquid returns to SweetBox with a hefty new single...

After a joint release with fellow New Zealander Bokeh on PICKNMIX003 Lowquid is back with two brand new tracks. Since then he has been earning support across Rinse from all the right names including Hi5 Ghost, Boofy and Keysound Recordings.

Hard Jube, just like the candy, can do damage to the teeth but is worth it for the tasty treat! A heavy hitting track that stomps along bringing together elements of techno, dubstep and US club music before dubbing out into a beautiful soundscape and stripping back to a half time groove.

Cold Sweat covers the B Side. Eerie, icy synths borrowing influence from the darker side of Grime meet 4x4 drum patterns, rumbling low end and splashes of chopped vocals and SFX.

This album is an enjoyable paradox, caught not just between jungle and halftime, but rather, both extremes concurrently. I'm not sure whether to slide these tunes into a hip-hop set, or break it down from a d'n'b set. This unsure feeling of speed subversion and beat delusion... I love it. DJ Home Movies
